Eagle Project Process
Once you are a Life Scout, begin thinking about a project that will leave a lasting impression
and make a difference – to the surrounding community.

THE COMPLETE EAGLE PROJECT WORKBOOK and READ IT! Failure to follow the
steps will only make your journey more difficult and may result in
costly delays!!!
- Identify and research project ideas and funds needed to complete this project.
- Meet with Troop Eagle Coach, Mr.Vilardi to discuss idea. Bring along any photos, diagrams, drawings, and your EAGLE PROJECT WORKBOOK. Write out your proposal, including pictures, drawings, diagrams, etc.
- Schedule a meeting with Mr. Vozza to present your idea to the Troop Committee. Once approved,
- Finalize the Proposal portion and the Fundraising Application found in the Eagle Project Packet
- Obtain all necessary signatures.
- Call Council, 631-924-7000, and ask to be assigned a District Eagle Advisor. You will meet with the District Advisor, who will grant the final approval needed to start your project.
- Once your project is approved, submit the Fundraising Application to the Council for approval.
- Get any permits/permissions required for your project. Conduct any fundraising needed.
- Follow the guidelines and steps in your Eagle Project Workbook, being sure to include all components of your project.
- Meet with the Troop Eagle Coach, so that progress may be checked, and have a Scoutmaster Conference (while a Life Scout).
- Set dates and times for all phases of your project, being certain to check with the SM and our Troop calendar, to make sure your project does not conflict with our Troop events.
- Gather your supplies and volunteers. Make sure that you have the right-aged volunteers for the jobs you need.
- Carry out your project.
- Complete the Eagle Project Report section. Meet again with the Troop Eagle Coach, to ensure that your packet is complete.
- Obtain all the required signatures.
- Meet with the Troop Advancement Chair to confirm that dates of all advancements and merit badges, on your Eagle Rank Application match the dates on file with National.
- Send/give out your blank letters of recommendation forms. Be sure to follow all guidelines.
- Meet one last time with the Troop Eagle Coach, to ensure all your paperwork is complete and ready to turn in.
- Submit all paperwork to Council. Physically bring it to the Suffolk County Council office and turn it in at the Registration Desk. DO NOT leave it in the Scout Shop. Get a receipt.
- Await your Eagle Board of Review
- Have a successful Eagle Board of Review!
